The Sony Tablet S has a 9.4 inch screen (bright and filled with great tendency to fingerprint) with 16:10 aspect ratio and 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution, surrounded by a considerable black frame that holds the video camera. On the left side are the headphone output and a lid that covers a micro USB connector (which serves both to connect the computer to connect storage to the tablet) and a slot for SD / SDHC (full size, not microSD) with which to expand its 16 or 32 GB of internal memory (depending on version). The design and finish of this cap is something that does not correspond with the style of the rest of the device, because while we have it open, hang on one side ran the risk of rupture, a slide would have been much better.
Although Tablet S has the microUSB connector for connecting data, Sony not used for charging the battery. Instead uses a large proprietary connector (similar to the classic design of their phones), which plugs into the bottom, preventing us to support the tablet while standing charges, for example, watching a movie. To do this, we have to resort to a support that the manufacturer sells as an accessory, allowing us to keep you connected and use the tablet as a photo frame. In addition, the charger is the largest we’ve seen in tablets , and more similar to those of netbooks.
In exchange for the drawbacks of this great magazine, we will charge the tablet quickly , as their size is that is more powerful than those of tablets from other manufacturers. In fact, compared to 2.5 W, which could provide a standard USB port, charger, Sony gives us just over 30 watts.
The Sony Tablet S is manufactured in three versions: 16 GB, 32 GB and 32GB with 3G connectivity. The 3G model comes standard with Android 3.2, while versions use Wi-Fi only version 3.1. However, just turn it on, we warned that an update was available 180 MB system, which includes Android 3.2 and support for Video Unlimited.
Thanks to Video Unlimited will have access to online video store where you can rent and buy movies, as in the case of music do Music Unlimited. And Sony has customized your tablet with access to the house, including the Sony eBook Reader and certification PlayStation with which we have access to the popular console titles. And with DLNA support, we can see the contents of the tablet on a TV easily and without cables. Even we can control the TV (or any other device with remote control) from the tablet, as in the thicker border with an infrared emitter and an application comes preinstalled on which we can identify the controls of each device to use the Tablet S as a universal remote control.
Moreover, Sony offers a selection of “recommended apps” in what would be a filtering application market by the manufacturer to select those that are most interesting though, if we wish, we also have full access to Android Market.
